How should I package the donated shoes?

Donated shoes should be placed in shipping boxes (not shoe boxes) that are strong enough to handle movement when transported and that can be easily lifted. Try to use boxes or containers that are similar in size and fall in the range of 24x24x24. Each box should weigh approximately 45 to 50 pounds. Be sure when preparing to securely tape the boxes closed on all sides.

 

Where do I find the boxes?

Check with your local grocery store on "truck day" before the boxes are cut down. Ask if they can save boxes for you or allow you to come by before the boxes are thrown out. Packaging stores may also be willing to donate new boxes if you indicate that you are donating shoes for charity. How do I send the boxes to Soles4Souls®?

PartnerShip handles the shipping for Soles4Souls® and will help make the arrangements for pickup and delivery. PartnerShip will provide the shipping labels and the address of your local shipping facility. For larger shipments, PartnerShip will arrange pickup with a trucking company at your convenience.

 

How do I weigh the boxes?

The total shipping weight can be estimated for the boxes using a scale that you might have around your home, such as a bathroom scale. If the dimensions are similar, you can weigh two or three of the boxes to get an average weight per box. Then multiply the number of boxes by the average weight to calculate the total weight.

 

How do I request shipping and how much will it cost?

Fill out the form on the right. Once you have submitted your information, the cost of the shipment will be calculated and you will be contacted with the amount. Soles4Souls has arranged with PartnerShip to provide a steeply discounted rate for each of the donors.

 

What labels do I put on my boxes?

Once you have placed the request for your shipping, PartnerShip will email a label to you that can be copied and applied to each box. Please make as many copies of the label as you have boxes and tape a label to each box using wide clear tape.

 

Are there ways to further reduce our shipping costs?

If your shipment qualifies to be sent small package, the most cost-effective option is for you to take your boxes to your closest shipping facility. You will be e-mailed a link when your shipment is processed that will allow you to determine the location of your nearest facility. Larger donations require the services of a trucking company or carrier. These carriers will impose a surcharge on pickups at schools, churches, and residences. Having shoes picked up at a commercial business or taken to the carrier’s local terminal can reduce shipping costs. PartnerShip will provide you with the address of the local terminal if you choose this option.

 

When will the trucking company make the pickup?

Pickups are scheduled in the afternoons, Monday through Friday (except holidays). The carriers generally need a two-hour window to accomplish the pickup. For example, you can schedule your pickup between 2:00pm and 4:00pm. The drivers will many times help load the truck but they are not required to. Please be prepared to load the boxes when the truck arrives and have loading completed in about 15 minutes.

 

How do I pay for shipping?

Payment for shipping is required in advance when the pickup is scheduled. PartnerShip accepts Visa, MasterCard, or American Express. If paying by credit card, you will be e-mailed a credit card receipt when the shipment is scheduled for pickup.

 

Can I receive an invoice?

This is not an option unless you ship regularly to Soles4Souls. Most donors ship a single time and have not established credit with PartnerShip. Payment by credit card is requested in advance to insure the integrity of your shipment.
